Candida and Essential Oils

Posted by Meg Shehad on

What is Candida?
Basically it is an overgrowth of yeast in the intestines. This can spread to other parts of the body and can become a very serious illness. Women are more prone to this than men, but men do get it.

What causes it?
Usually it comes from a diet of over processed food high in refined sugar or overuse of antibiotics.

Symptoms:
Sugar, carbohydrate, or alcohol cravings
Bloating after eating / Flatulence
Fatigue, inability to focus or concentrate, dizziness, memory loss
Vaginal yeast infections, skin disorders, itching

Can be a contributing factor in:
    Alcoholism
    Anxiety
    Asthma
    Chronic Pain
    Fibromyalgia
    Irritable Bowel Syndrome
    Menopause
    Symptoms
    Migraines
    Multiple Chemical Sensitivities

How do I prevent or relieve Candida symptoms?
    1. Only take antibiotics if you have to. Essentials can help you prevent or treat viruses, bacterial infection, and fungal outbreaks.
    2. Eat foods high in complex carbohydrates, protein, eggs, and yogurt.
    3. Boost your digestive system, as it is always poor in Candida. Essential oils can be part of repairing and restoring the digestive system.
    4. Keeping a healthy colon and intestines is vital. Essential oils ingested or applied in suppositories or enemas can help maintain intestinal health.

Essential Oils that are like antibiotics – fight bacterial infection:
      Any Cedarwood Essential Oil

      Cinnamon                            Clove                      Cypress
Eucalyptus                           Laurel Leaf             Niaouli                                      Oregano                              Tea Tree                  Thyme

Take in baths or spray showers with one or a combination of these oils weekly especially during flu or infection outbreaks. Wear around neck in an aromatherapy necklace or add to cotton balls that can be smelled during the day to continue protection.

Essential Oils that repair or restore the digestive system:
(These are to be taken with food and just a drop is enough)
        Angelica                                 Anise                     Allspice
        Basil                                       Bay                       Caraway
        Cardamon                              Celery                   Chamomile, Roman
        Cornmint                                Cumin                    Dill
        Fennel                                    Ginger                   Parsley
        Marjoram                                Black Pepper        Peppermint
        Spearmint
Gritman Structural Bone Support Vinegar will also help. Put a teaspoon in a glass of water and drink with your meal.

Essential oils for Suppositories or Enemas:
          Cassia Bark                           Cinnamon Bark      Oregano
          Peppermint                             Rosemary              Summer Savory
          Tagetes                                  Tea Tree
Melt cocoa butter and add one or a combination of these oils. Shape into suppository shapes. Freeze and use before going to bed by placing in the rectum. The oils can be put into an enema bag with Gritman Structural Bone Support Vinegar and water.

The oils will dissolve plastic so wash immediately after use to sustain the life of the enema bag.
For a douche place a cup of Gritman Structural Bone Support Vinegar add water. Drop Tea Tree with Lavender into the vinegar and water.

Drinking a Cinnamon Spice Tea or a Blend of Herbs with Cinnamon Spice. We do not want you to drink Cinnamon essential oil as it is too hot. The spice is better for this.

          • Diana, it is always encouraging to hear positive remarks. I enjoy writing these articles. Thank you for appreciating them. Candida is a serious problem and one that many women have to endure. Treatments can often be difficult and not helpful, so falling back onto essential oils can really make a difference. I would love to hear about your process.
