Quick Overview

Allspice Essential Oil is steam distilled from the berries. Allspice Essential Oil is an anesthetic, analgesic, anti oxidant, antiseptic, carminative, relaxant, rubefacient, stimulant and tonic. Allspice smells of several spices: cardamom, cinnamon, clove, pepper, and nutmeg. Since Allspice has analgesic properties, it has a numbing effect on the nerves thus relieves pains of headaches, colds, sinusitis, insect bites, muscular distress and much more. As an antioxidant, it counters the signs of aging like weakening of muscles, loss of hair, loss in vision and hearing, and nervous disorders.

Allspice Essential Oil

Details

When allspice is steam distilled, there is a separation or fraction of very light and very heavy chemicals. These two are then collected and mixed to form allspice berry essential oil. Allspice only grows within the West Indies and some South American countries despite many attempts at transplanting elsewhere. The green fruits are only harvested after the tree is at least eight years old. If allowed to ripen, they loose scent. There is also an oil made from the leaves. The Berry oil is considered better, as it doesn't have as much eugenol as the leaf oil and is better for sensitive skin. The berry oil can be adulterated with clove, stem or leaf oil. This is a fiery oil and must be used with care.
