Basil Essential Oil
Details
Being a mint, there are great varieties of basil, so there are several chemotypes: sweet basil essential oil is linalool type, exotic basil is methyl chavicol type, Indian basil (Ocimum canum) is camphor type, and tree basil (O. gratissimum) is eugenol and thymol type. There is also bush basil (O. basilicum var. minimum), grand basilic basil (O. b. var. grand vert.), American basil (O. americanum), East Indian basil (O. gratissimum) and holy basil (O. sanctum). In Italy, basil symbolizes love. Basil flower essence refers to the inability to balance the sexual physical nature with the spiritual nature. There is often abuse of sexuality. Repair of the sexual nature transforms it into a natural expression and part of a sacred whole. Battagalia suggests that basil is good for those in need of protection due to debilitating illness and low resistance level, nervous exhaustion, constitutional weakness or a change in life resulting in feelings of vulnerability.
