Details
All parts of the plant are used. Root and seeds produce angelica root essential oil, the shoots are added to salads, the stalks are eaten like celery or candied as a confectionery, the roots are steamed as vegetables and the seeds are used to flavor baked goods and vegetable dishes. It is valued as a fragrance in soaps, lotions, and perfumes. Since it has a soothing effect on the skin, it is used in some cosmetics. It is also a flavoring agent in alcoholic products (gin), soft drinks and liqueurs (Benedictine, Chartreuse, and Cointreau).
