Gardenia Maceration

Common Name: Gardenia

Scientific Name: Gardenia jasminoides

Part of Plant Used: Fresh flowers

Constituents: Fractionated Coconut Oil, Essential Oils, Glucosides, Flavonoids

General Information: The roots and leaves have been used traditionally to treat fevers and cleanse the body. The flowers are used to scent teas. Primarily known as a perfume oil. The blossoms are intensely fragrant. The essential is rarely available and the absolute really does not compare with the real flower. The gardenia oil mostly found in the market is synthetic.

Physical Properties: Antidepressant, calmative, and aphrodisiac. It also has analgesic and detoxing properties. Used as perfume oil as it is so fragrant.

Emotional and Spiritual Properties: There is an axiom that says love endures all things. It may endure but it does not have to like it. Can indicate that you are being asked to endure some very hard times. Please do not loose sight of the fact that you are loved. The things you dislike will come to an end. This oil will lift you out of whatever pity party you are having. Can also indicate that you are a "goodie goodie." You live life with a smile and can suffocate those around you. You can feel totally unappreciated and alienated from those around you. It may be time to smell the gardenias and live your own life instead of living the lives of those around you. You have much to offer. It is time to focus on yourself and get on with the good you were meant to do.

Applications: If you are able to get an essential oil or good absolute, the maceration will extend and improve the fragrance of your oil. It is also good for any perfume or aphrodisiac blend. Use in spa products especially detoxing body wraps. Use in skin creams and lotions. There maybe some pain killing properties here and this would benefit massage oils especially for deep muscle massage blends.
