HISTORY INFORMATION: This oil is only produced in Australia. It has under gone extensive scientific testing. It has bacterial, fungal, and viral properties. Tea tree was discovered by Captain Cook in 1770. They used the leaves to make a refreshing tea.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Australia has a set standard for this oil with government protection. There are several essential oils produced from the melaleuca species. Cajeput (M. cajeputi, M. minor), Niaouli (M. viridiflora, M. quinquenervia). New Zealand tea tree, manuka ( Leptospermum scoparium) is a new oil being introduced. It has a history of use with the Maori people who used it for curing many illnesses. Kanuka (L. ericoides), a chemotype of New Zealand Tea Tree also has a rich medicinal history.

DESCRIPTION OF PLANT: An evergreen tree growing to 10ft high with needle like leaves bearing purple or yellow flowers.
