INDIGENOUS COUNTRY: Mediterranean

COUNTRY OF PRODUCTION: Morocco, Spain, France.

HISTORY INFORMATION: There is great deal of confusion surrounding this oil. Often it is treated as a chamomile, and it is not. Tansy comes from the Greek athanaton meaning immortal. It was used to perserve dead bodies.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Often mistakenly labeled Wild Chamomile, Blue Chamomile, Morrocan Chamomile, or Greater Mugwort (Artemesia arborescens). The confusion comes in the dark blue color of these oils, but the scent of blue tansy is definitely more fruity and sweet.

DESCRIPTION OF PLANT: An annual growing to 3ft high multibranched with hairy leaves and tubular flowers.

PARTS PROCESSED: Leaves.

PROCESSING METHODS: Steamed distilled, CO2 extraction

COLOR RANGE: Dark blue.

CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS: Class: Monoterpene. Primarily limonene, chamazulene, camphor.

PHYSICAL ACTIONS AND USES: Anthelminic, anti-inflammatory, antiphlogistic, antihistamine, antipruritic, analgesic, antispasmodic, diaphoretic, digestive, emmenagogue, fabrifuge, hypotensive, nervine, stimulant, tonic, vermifuge. Used for bruises, itching, skin irritation, dermatitis, asthma crisis (acts like theophylline), colds, fever, hypertension, intestinal worms, and stress.

MENTAL USES: I am one with myself. I am connected with my soul. I forgive and I am forgiven.

EMOTIONAL USES: Confused, disoriented, "fuzzy edges," anxious without any tangible reason, scared TO feeling of peace and equality with the inner self, at peace with self and world.

SPIRITUAL USES: Can indicate that you are the flag bearer of your soul which means that you may be asked to clear things that do not directly bear on this present life, but that the soul can use you to clear some of its issues and of course these are your issues too. Blue Tansy helps the soul to release its karma and heal so that the individual can become more soul aware and more spiritually grounded creating a true inner peace.
