HISTORY INFORMATION: Melissa has an ancient history. The plant's name is lemon balm(Melissa officinalis). It is a mint with a lemon scent with many medicinal properties. This Melissa is a reconstituted blend of carefully examined constituents of the real oil and then combined in the laboratory, The chemist making this blend is well respected. Most Melissa on the market is adulterated, as the plant yields little essential oil. This is confusing for those who have smelled the rich aroma of the growing plant. The plant has a high proportion of water to low proportion of essential oil so huge volumes of plant material are necessary to make a few drops of oil, making Melissa very expensive. Because of this, it is often stretched with lemongrass, citronella or litsea cubeba. Melissa can have a dramatic effect, a cure-all, especially when the issue concerns the nervous system or allergies.

GENERAL INFORMATION: We know that most Melissa if not all is adulterated in some way. Because of this, we sought another alternative (see historical info). This is an excellent blend, in fact the best we have ever seen, with a reasonable price. Growing the plant is easy and one we encourage. The leaves can be crushed to release their oils. It will not be much, but it will be real Melissa.
