HISTORY INFORMATION: Kanuka comes from the Maori language. Maoris and early settlers used Kanuka and its healing properties for fractures, pain, inflammation, skin diseases. It also helped to promote calmness and a restful sleep. Chewing on young shoots or using the seeds in a drink helped cure dysentery and diarrhea.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Ericoides means "resembling health". The root word Kunzea is unknown.The smell is a sweet and herbaceous similar aroma to Manuka. Kanuka is often confused with Manuka for its similar properties. The Manuka plant's leaves tend to be larger and more aromatic with larger flowers. Kanuka's flowers are smaller and grow in clusters.

DESCRIPTION OF PLANT: Large spindle tree with small pointed leaves can grow up to 70 feet. The bark is a light brown. The bark is thicker than most common manukas. The wood is white hence the name White Manuka, while Manuka wood is red.

PHYSICAL ACTIONS AND USES: Antibacterial, anti-infammatory. Used for acne, muscle pain and swelling, insect bites, sinusitus, athelete's foot, candida, chicken poxes, cold sores, colds, corns, cuts, itching, migraines, ring worm, warts, urethritis, whooping cough, arthritis, rheumatism

MENTAL USES: I can slow down and be at peace with myself. My world is just as it needs to be..

EMOTIONAL USES: Stressed, working to hard and unaware of it TO peaceful, restful, able to be idle without negative mind chatter

SPIRITUAL USES: Indicates you have been pushing yourself in one direction for too long and not noticing the more subtle clues to slow down. You may also be a little out of touch with your own body. Get a massage, do gentle exercises so you will become more aware of your body. Take time to notice the small things in life: look into nature, feel your body, and notice your surroundings more. This oil allows you to calm the mind and allow your body to rest. So using this before you have a big day at work is not a good idea.

APPLICATIONS: Aroma lamp, bath (with proper fixed oil), diffusor, inhaler, light bulb ring, lotion and creams for the skin, massage, mist spray.
