HISTORY INFORMATION: In India they distilled henna with sandalwood to make an attar. They used it for devotion, opening psychic abilities and clairvoyance. Gurus use henna and other oils to anoint Shamans. Swami Muktananda is remembered for the smell of henna. In the Bible, henna is called "Camphire". Henna bark is used medicinally.
GENERAL INFORMATION: Cyprinum is the name of the oil made from henna flowers. The scent of the henna flower was thought to bring the dead back to life and was used on the skin to keep it soft and supple. Black Henna is usually a blend of indigo and henna.
DESCRIPTION OF PLANT: A shrub growing to 10 feet high producing very fragrant white flowers.
