HISTORY INFORMATION: Gingergrass is a variant of Palmarosa. Some consider it to be not as fine as palmarosa. It is primarily distilled for perfumes. This is a recent oil, not distilled until the 19th century.
GENERAL INFORMATION: Gingergrass is often distilled with palmarosa which many think helps the quality of the gingergrass, but lessens the quality of palmarosa. Grasses are very important to the planet. They act much like the hair on our body. Seeds from grass produce cereals and various flours, food for animals, both green and dried (hay), roofing and mat materials, medicine and scented oils for perfumes.
DESCRIPTION OF PLANT: A fragrant grass growing to 9 feet tall that flowers.

PROCESSING METHODS: Steam or Water distilled

CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS: Class: Alcohol. Up to 65% geraniol, perillyl alcohol, limonene, phellandrene.

PHYSICAL ACTIONS AND USES: Antidepressant, antimicrobial, antibacterial, antifungal, aphrodisiac, calmative, stimulant (immune system), tonic (uterine). Used for acne, sinusitis, sore throat, stimulating the immune system, bacterial and viral infections of the intestines, vaginitis, urethritis, nervous exhaustion. Used to warm, improve circulation, calm, reduce stress, to open sinus and breathing passages, uplift moods, to increase loving feelings and euphoria, improve mental clarity.
MENTAL USES: I am happy. I am able to relax and enjoy myself. I am able to do nothing.
EMOTIONAL USES: Oppressed, stressed, overworking, unwilling to see the bad, afraid to stop and relax TO carefree, smiling, happy, able to see the bad in things without making you sad, happiness in doing nothing.
SPIRITUAL USES: Can indicate that you are working very hard but not enjoying yourself. You may identify who you are by what you do (such as you are a doctor, lawyer, teacher). Gingergrass speaks to being. It cares not about goals and getting things done. Gingergrass supports you to do nothing and enjoy yourself in the doing of nothing. It is time to smell the flowers and watch the sun rise or set. It is time to go out into the world and smile at those you see. Gingergrass can lift a sense of oppression or having to work without any sense of meaning or purpose. With gingergrass, you know that it is just enough to breath and appreciate: nothing more is asked of you. Gingergrass can also speak to not wanting to see the bad or evil in things because it would upset or "take the happy away". It can create a form of "delusional happy".
APPLICATIONS: Aroma lamp, bath (with proper fixed oil), diffusor, inhaler, light bulb ring, massage, mist spray.
WARNINGS\CONTRAINDICATIONS: No formal testing, avoid in pregnancy and with infants and children, appears nontoxic, can irritate the skin so test before using.
