HISTORY INFORMATION: It has been used as an aphrodisiac. In cooking it is considered to be like ginger, but with some cardamon qualities. Medically used for cholera, congestion, digestion and skin problems. In magic it was used to create protection and safety.
GENERAL INFORMATION: A local spice in Indonesia is called false galanga (Kaernpferia galanga).
DESCRIPTION OF PLANT: An herb growing to 5 feet high with green sword leaves producing white flowers and an aromatic rhizome.

PHYSICAL ACTIONS AND USES: Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitussive, aphrodisiac, balsamic, carminative, cicatrizant, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, hypotensive, restorative, stimulant, stomachic, tonic. Used for skin infections, bronchitis, indigestion, colitis. Used to improve digestion, reduces stress, uplift moods, relieve aches and pains, disinfect and induce perspiration.
MENTAL USES: I use my life experience to its best advantage. I am loving and wise. Life is there to have fun.
EMOTIONAL USES: Cynical, pessimistic, serious TO light-hearted, happy, wise.
SPIRITUAL USES: Can indicate that you have been taking life too seriously. Things may have happened to you that have left you cynical and you no longer have faith in the things you once had.
