HISTORY INFORMATION: It was introduced to Europe in the 17th century and used for house and shipbuilding. Oil was produced in small villages throughout Russia before the revolution. This oil is a favorite to use around the Christmas holidays.
GENERAL INFORMATION: Older needles produce the most oil. Siberian Fir is suppose to have the finest scent of the firs. Another species of fir, Grand Fir (Abies grandis) produces an orange scent when crushed. Often fir oils are confused with pines, which share the same family.
DESCRIPTION OF PLANT: An evergreen tree growing to 80 feet producing needles, that live for ten years.

PHYSICAL ACTIONS AND USES: Analgesic, antiseptic (pulmonary), anti-inflammatory, antitussive, antispasmodic, deodorant, expectorant, rubefacient, stimulant, tonic. Used for asthma, bronchitis, coughs, sinusitis, rheumatism, colds, fever, flu, stimulant (immune system), urinary infection.
MENTAL USES: I am ready to begin. I have worked hard and I am ready for what is ahead of me. I am ready to take my place within the world.
EMOTIONAL USES: Stressed because in transition, overwhelmed, feeling unable to deal with life TO clearing out old history and feeling good about facing the future.
SPIRITUAL USES: Can indicate that you are in a major shift in consciousness or you are approaching or going through a spiritual initiation. You learn or become more aware of your connectedness to all things. Siberian Fir Needle is used to ease the discomfort of spiritual transitions or initiations. On a mundane level it is helpful in major transitions of life such as moving, divorcing, age (puberty, becoming an adult, mid-life crisis, retiring). It calms and rejuvenates the nervous system and your energy field.
