HISTORY INFORMATION: As early as 5000 BC, there is a record of the Egyptians mixing dill with coriander and bryony to cure headaches. It has also been used over the centuries as an ingredient in exotic love potions and aphrodisiacs. In Matthew 23:23, dill is mentioned as an herb used for paying tithes.

GENERAL INFORMATION: The word dill probably comes from an Anglo-Saxon word dylla that means "to lull". As a flower essence it refers to living in a stressful world without being pulled off track from your divine plan.

DESCRIPTION OF PLANT: An annual herb growing to 3 feet high with a smooth stem, feathery leaves and umbrels of yellowish flowers producing flat seeds.

PARTS PROCESSED: Whole plant fresh or dried.

PROCESSING METHODS: Steam distilled.

COLOR RANGE: Clear to light yellow.

CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS: Class: Ketone. Carvone (less than in seed), limonene, pinene.

PHYSICAL ACTIONS AND USES: Antibacterial, antispasmodic, aperitive, calmative, carminative, detersive, diaphoretic, digestive, disinfectant, diuretic, emmenagogue, galactagogue, laxative, parasiticide, resolvent, seductive, stomachic. Used for digestion to soothe the intestines, relieve flatulence and fermentation, calm, relax, promote restful sleep, relieve pain and repel insects.

MENTAL USES: I can do what I need to do. I am on track. I enjoy my work.

EMOTIONAL USES: Feeling stressed, angry, not enjoying work, overwhelmed TO lightened, work may still be hard but enjoy more, persevere, laughing more.

SPIRITUAL USES: Can indicate you have lost your sense of self within your work. You are feeling made to work or work has become dull and boring. There may be anger or frustration within your work that needs to be released through laughter or making light of the situation. Dill Weed instills a sense of community. You are not alone.
