HISTORY INFORMATION: It was used primarily in the East as a spice, and it is a primary ingredient in curries. Ayurvedic medicine uses it as a general stimulant, for digestive complaints, colic and dyspepsia, and to strengthen convalescing patients. It is also used in perfumes, love potions, and aphrodisiac baths. Used in Mexican cuisine. Magically used as amulet for protection. Hindus use cumin as a symbol of fidelity. The Greeks and Romans put it on the graves of their dead. Cultivated since the time of the Minoans.
GENERAL INFORMATION: There are two chemotypes of Cumin, the first is cuminal-terpinene, the second is paracymene. The Cumin listed here is the cuminal.
DESCRIPTION OF PLANT: A small annual herb growing to 20 inches high with a slender stem and dark green feathery leaves producing small pink or white flowers followed by small oblong seeds.

PHYSICAL ACTIONS AND USES: Analgesic, anti-oxidant, antiseptic, anti-inflammative, antispasmodic, antitoxic, aperitive, aphrodisiac, bactericidal, cardiac, carminative, depurative, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, larvicidal, parasiticide, revitalizing, sedative, thyroid stimulant, tonic (nervine). Used for calming, relieving pain, promoting sleep, stimulant for digestion. Used to warm, improve circulation, improve digestion, relieve flatulence, purify, reduce cellulite, reduce stress, uplift moods, revive, relieve fatigue, to aid meditation.
MENTAL USES: I know there are malevolent forces in the world and within me. I can recognize these forces without them hurting me or others. I can defend myself.
EMOTIONAL USES: Feeling "unclean," battered mentally, emotionally, or physically, impotent, afraid, "don't touch me," blamed, TO safe, powerful, able to defend oneself, protected, able to laugh at self and attacker.
SPIRITUAL USES: Can indicate that you are under attack emotionally and/or mentally. It also can indicate physical assault. You are hurt and wounded. You may or may not know where or who the assailant is. Cumin clears emotional and mental damage caused from abusive attacks and strengthens the field enabling you to recognize the evil and good within your world and self. Clearing is often marked by making fun of what once was hurtful. You feel very able to defend and protect yourself without the need for violence. Can also indicate that you are growing very fast and have gone beyond your comfort zone. It feels to your body as if it is under attack or being stretch beyond its limits. You may have overdone it. Pull back and take care of yourself.

WARNINGS\CONTRAINDICATIONS: Nontoxic, may irritate sensitive skin, phototoxic so do not go out in sun after using on skin, avoid in pregnancy.
