HISTORY INFORMATION: The word Cilantro refers to the leaves of the plant, while Coriander refers to the seeds of the same plant. Coriander seed dates back to thousands of years in usage. Cilantro has a rich history in cooking. In Europe, a soup made with barley and cilantro was given to people recovering from illness.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Coriander means "smelling like bedbugs", yet it is the cilantro leaves that give this smell. Some people like the cilantro smell and others are repelled. As the plant produces seed, the smell of the seeds is different and far more pleasant.

DESCRIPTION OF PLANT: An annual herb growing to 3 feet high with bright green delicate leaves, umbrels of lace-like flowers producing green (turning to brown) seeds.

PHYSICAL ACTIONS AND USES: Herbal references are primarily for the seed. Cilantro herbally is used in cooking. Primary difference is that plant (cilantro) has more decylaldehyde than the seed (coriander). Aldehydes tend to oxidize or change within the presence of air and form acids, or to the nose this would mean "go sour". Perhaps this is why the cilantro plant has a reputation for smelling bad.

MENTAL USES: I am in control of my life. I am doing what I want to do. I can find pleasure in whatever I do. I like me.

EMOTIONAL USES: Angry, confined, unable to do what you want TO free, limitless, directed, like yourself.
