HISTORY INFORMATION: The Eastern cultures have a long history with Cajeput. Often grown as an ornamental because it is so beautiful. Used in Java for cholera and rheumatism. Used in Africa and Asia as an insecticide and parasiticide. Aborigines ued cajeput crushed cajeput leaves rubbed on the skin to relieve aches and pains. They also steeped in leaves in hot water to pour onto affected areas. Smelling the leaves helped headache pain.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Cajeput is part of a large group of plants called tea trees or melaleucas. In Malaysia it is called "caju-puti" meaning white wood because of the color of the timber. Used in dentistry and pharmaceutical industry as an antiseptic, expectorant, throat lozenges, gargles. Also used as a fragrance and refreshing agent in soaps, cosmetics, detergents, and perfumes. Sometimes used in food and soft drinks. It is often found adulterated with rosemary, turpentine and/or camphor. Grows wild in Florida where it is called "Punk Tree". Dr. Costet did research on cajeput and confirmed that it was good for the respiratory system and viral infections such as the flu.

DESCRIPTION OF PLANT: A tall evergreen tree up to 100 feet, with thick pointed leaves and white, pink, or purple flowers. The flexible trunk has a whitish spongy bark that flakes off easily.

PARTS PROCESSED: Leaves, twigs, buds which can be fermented.

PHYSICAL ACTIONS AND USES: Antimicrobial, antineuralgic, antispasmodic, antiseptic, balsamic, calmative, carminative, cicatrizant, counter-irritant, decongestant, diaphoretic, emollient, estrogenic, expectorant, febrifuge, insecticide, parasiticide, pectoral, stimulant (circulatory), sudorific, tonic, vermifuge. Used for insect bites, oily skin, arthritis, muscular aches and pains, rheumatism, asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, coughs, sinusitis, sore throat, cystitis, arthritis, urinary infections, colds, flu, and viral infections. Used to improve circulation, calm, reduce stress, open sinus and breathing passages, relieve aches and pains, disinfect, repel insects.

MENTAL USES: I learn from what happens to me. Every experience benefits me. I find pleasure in life.

EMOTIONAL USES: Trauma of a torturous nature, rage, degradation, helplessness, guilt or shame about sex TO sense of relief, feeling a major purge, more confident to deal with life, sexually balanced.

SPIRITUAL USES: Can indicate that there is severe sexual abuse in your history. This can be applied to karmic or present history. Cajeput heals the damage leading to understanding of experiences placed in your life for clearing. This can indicate that the soul needs to resolve issues it holds and in turn clear your karma.

WARNINGS\CONTRAINDICATIONS: Nontoxic. Avoid in pregnancy. Can be a skin irritant and needs to be used with a carrier.
