HISTORY INFORMATION: In Ayurvedic medicine, it is called tulsi. In China it is used for stomach and kidney aliments. Ancient references use the herb in cooking. Recently found to be helpful with treating herpes and shingles. Ocimum comes from the Greek okimon meaning quick because basil grew so fast. Basil comes from the latin basilicum meaning royal and basil is often referred to as the royal herb. Some consider basil to be evil while others consider it sacred.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Often classified botanically identical to French Basil, though it is a larger plant with a harsher odor and different constituents. Basil Flower essence refers to the inability to balance the sexual and physical nature with the spiritual nature. There is often abuse of sexuality. Repair of the sexual nature transforms it into a natural expession and part of a sacred whole. Methyl chavicol administered to experimental mice is partially metabolised to hydroxy-estragole, a noted carcinogen, therefore, Exotic Basil which is high in chavicol is not recommended in aromatherapy.

DESCRIPTION OF PLANT: Bushy annual herb growing to two feet.

PARTS PROCESSED: Leaves and flowering tops.

PROCESSING METHODS: Steam distilled.

COLOR RANGE: Yellow to pale green.

CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS: Class: Ether. Primarily methyl chavicol up to 75%, linalool up to 14%, eugenol, cineole.

YIN\YANG: Yang

PHYSICAL ACTIONS AND USES: Antidepressant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, cephalic, digestive, emmenagogue, expectorant, febrifuge, galactagogue,nervine, prophylactic, restorative, stimulant, of adrenal cortex, stomachic, and tonic. Used for respiratory problems such as bronchitis, coughs, colds, asthma, flu, and emphysema. It improves blood circulation and digestive system. It is good for rheumatic pain, irritable skin and nervous conditions.

MENTAL USES: I speak clearly and I am understood easily. I remember well and easily. I change my life through my beliefs.

EMOTIONAL USES: Confused, dazed, fatigued, anxious, chilled, abused (sexually) TO clarity, mentally alert, sense of well-being, feeling warmer, better able to focus.

SPIRITUAL USES: Can indicate that you are ready to change some of your beliefs and basic thoughts. You have realized lately that some of your thoughts are no longer what you want to belief. It is time to change, and this can feel very confusing and scary. Exotic Basil eases this transition. You now realize the way you perceive the world is the way you react to the world. As you dislike what you perceive, you can change your perception and create a new world for yourself. It is especially good at clearing the mental body of unwanted thought forms. It can actually dissolve them. Warnings are attached to this oil for this reason. Exotic Basil is also very grounding to easily make mental transitions Your world will not be so fuzzy, which is normal when you are in a process of changing belief systems. This is a very powerful time for you. Your life will not be the same.

WARNINGS\CONTRAINDICATIONS: Moderate use appears to be nontoxic; excessive usage could be stupefying, avoid in pregancy.
